Welcome to the Devon Ringing Archive

I've recently been tidying my cloud storage and found the scans I made some time ago of the late Ivor Hookway's results books that had been lent to me to add to the old archive. I'm glad I kept them since there was extra information in them that I've been adding to the archive; Ivor was pretty meticulous with his record keeping and so I've been able judge's names and dates to the competitions that he had the results for. There's also peal numbers for the majority of the events, however they aren't always complete, as some compeittions had more results than fit on the page or only select peal numbers are recorded. Also there will be some competitions that had more than one section but the peals were rung as one competition (such as the Shirwell Deanery in the early 1970s), the peal numbers for these events look incomplete but when both sections are viewed together the complete order becomes clear.

I've got as far as the mid 70s with these results and I'll be updating them over the next couple of weeks, as well as trying to keep up to date with the latest results from the events this summer.

I’ve been digging around in the records of the dim and distant past (more on that in the next issue of Devon Calls), and found the results for a competition that happened in Devon in the year 1845 - full results here. I’ve added them for the interest, but need to note that the scores are very high by modern standards as the judges of the day gave the marks in half faults. Even then it’s still very high so goodness knows how they did their judging.

Welcome to the new version of the site! It's a bit bare-bones at the minute, as it only has the results archive and the composition pages. I'm hoping to add more functionality in time, including the league tables and records pages, but they'll come when I have time to develop them properly.

Within the archive I have added more competitions, including Winter Leagues and novice events, and I've also included extra information where I could find it. We now have event dates, judges names, and peal numbers and some of the statistics for the event on the results pages.

Additionally, there's more compositions than before and the list is a bit more filterable - plus you can view the changes on a webpage or in a pdf file for downloading. I've also updated the code to provide the same composititions with called down changes, although I can't 100% guarantee the called down changes are correct as I don't call them that way myself.
